PhoneOS is the next-generation operating system for the Cisco Phone Portfolio. It was first introduced with the Cisco Video Phone 8875 in 2023 and now powers the new 9800 series desk phones.

PhoneOS brings a range of powerful new capabilities that elevate the 8875 and 9800 beyond traditional desk phones. One of the most exciting additions is support for xAPI.

Originally developed for RoomOS, xAPI is now available on PhoneOS devices starting with version 3.5. This unlocks new possibilities for customers, partners, and solution integrators—enabling more flexible control, deeper customization, and richer solution integrations tailored to diverse business needs.
